Portrait Drawing Class 1
We discussed William Maughn's strategy for drawing a portrait based upon Leonardo's chiaroscuro which is explained in The Artist's Complete Guide to DRAWING THE HEAD. Gesture, proportion, shadow shapes (hard and soft edges), details (accents, highlights). We began with a twenty-minute drawing:Funny, right? No head.
