Today we worked from our first live model. We began by viewing Anatomy Lessons from the Old Masters by Robert Beverly Hale followed by Drawing the Head by Maughan which focused on a discussion of chiaroscuro. We looked at drawings by Kathe Kollwitz. Finally, we discussed six prints of portraits by Picasso. The class critiqued Picasso as they did each others drawings. The consensus was that Picasso drew better early on before he became "creative".
