Class 11, Drawing the Head

Matted.
The model posing.

We talked about The Night Before Christmas Concert by the Eastman Choir at the Presbyterian Church in Albion. I did a drawing of the church interior while listening to the concert and it just happened to be in the sketchbook I was holding:

I discussed the canon of proportions with a trace overlay of a portrait with expressive distortions.
Today's class evolved from this drawing of a guy eating in a restaurant.
I overlaid a sheet of trace paper and drew a skull.
Because I was thinking about Vesalius.

And Gray's Anatomy.
Walter T. Foster published an interesting book called How to draw the Head.
Nine steps and the finish.
I followed Mr. Fosters instructions (above).

The out of class assignment is to draw this skull.
